Facing Freedom Website
Facing Freedom is a user-centered website for middle- and high-school teachers and students. It focuses on four themes and eight stories that deal with struggles for freedom in United States history. The website is based on a permanent exhibition at the Chicago History Museum. It allows students not only the ability to explore primary resources, but to also engage in discussion with professional historians, and via the My Freedom Collection section we give students and teachers the ability to use our collection for their own interpretive purposes.

I directed this project along side Museum educator Heidi Moisan. My specific roles in the project were project manager, visual design direction, technical direction, and usability analysis. With the help of two great facilitators and four amazing teachers we managed to perform the user studies in five classroom settings during the prototyping phase, not an easy feat.
This sitemap is a visual representation of the website concept.
